MISSION
The Portland Food Co-op is an autonomous, member-owned, democratic, non-profit, local business open to all. Our mission is to
- Provide high quality and fairly priced food, household goods, and personal items
- Educate and inform the community about food and food sources, health, and nutrition
- Serve the community as a model and advocate for cooperation, democracy, and self-reliance
- Invest in an environmentally and economically sustainable local food system
- Cultivate fair and trusting relationships between consumers and producers
- Cooperate with other cooperatives whenever possible
all for the mutual benefit of our members, other patrons, and the local, regional, and global communities.
Cooperatives function under the umbrella of seven common principles:

- Cooperation among cooperatives and Concern for community.
